Embodied Healing Containers*

*A healing container is a series of 5 or 10 sessions spaced apart according to client needs & therapist availability, but typically they will be weekly, biweekly or every 3 weeks with a specified beginning & end date. Payment occurs one session at a time on the date of service. In some cases, clients may wish to extend or shorten their container for either personal or therapeutic reasons. This conversation is always welcome and will be considered on a case by case basis. Of course, it is always in your right to terminate individual therapy sessions at any time but I cannot guarantee availability should you wish to book another container in the future.

What is Embodied Healing Therapy?

Embodied Healing is whole-body therapy, using a bottom-up approach. In this type of therapy, healing is targeted towards regulating physiological & sensory responses to stress in order to influence mental & emotional states. In the beginning, sessions are primarily focused on regulating the autonomic nervous system's capacity to shift between the sympathetic state (fight, flight, freeze & fawn) to the parasympathetic state (rest & digest), which is our natural healing state. Once clients can hold space for cognitive & emotional processing, they may choose to dive deeper within themselves to explore how they've been shaped by not only their internal- and external-life experiences, but by intergenerational and/or past-life traumas. I am trained in several modalities and techniques to support Embodied Healing Therapy, such as Reiki, Chakra Balancing, HeartMath Interventions, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT Tapping), Breathwork & the 7 Spiritual Laws of Yoga, Meditation, Integrative Somatic Therapy, Polyvagal Techniques, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Healing, Shadow Work, and EMDR. For more information about any of these modalities & techniques, see the FAQs section below.

What to Expect

In-person Embodied-Healing sessions are held in my home office & treatment space in Quispamsis, NB, while virtual sessions are held over Zoom. Remote-energy-healing treatments are also available either prior to or following your Zoom call. All sessions, whether in-person or virtual, last between 75 - 90 minutes. Embodied Healing treatments can create a lingering sense of balance & calm in your mind, body & spirit. It is recommended to schedule as few activities as possible following your sessions and prioritize self-care.

Curating Your Session

I take great care & attention towards making the physical & energetic treatment space as conducive to healing as possible; therefore, prior to your session, I participate in:

  • a smudging & protection ceremony of the physical & energetic space

  • a heart-focused meditation & blessing on your session

  • a personalized selection of background music with healing solfeggio frequencies specific to your needs

  • providing for a sun-lit room where possible or using warm lamp lighting & natural candlelight for grounding

  • the diffusing of pure essential oils (YL) *aroma pre-chosen by you or none at all

  • intentional placement of salt lamps, healing crystals & healing plants for grounding, clearing and protection

Whether in-person or virtual, feeling warm & comfortable during your session is deeply soothing to the nervous system and allows for a greater level of healing to take place; therefore, you will be offered a plush pillow and/or a throw blanket (heated or weighted available). If part of your session, involves a treatment table, such as in Reiki healing or chakra balancing, you will have the choice of a heated table, grounding pillow case, personal smudging, healing crystals, healing sound frequencies from tuning forks, singing bowls, and/or Indigenous drumming. In addition, you may choose a weighted blanket or wrap over the chest and a bolster to support the knees. Please note: For clients who are called to experience Indigenous drumming during their treatment, I am a member of Eastern Woodland Metis Nation and the drum I will be using was hand crafted and blessed by my uncle & Metis Elder, Emile Gautreau. Your comfort is my utmost priority so please let me know if there’s anything I can do to support that.

FAQ's

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word for universal life-force energy. The practice of channeling and transmitting Reiki originated in Japan during the second half of the 19th century. During Reiki treatments, trained & attuned practitioners channel chi (universal life force) towards the well-being of the recipients and everyone with whom they are connected. Reiki has the power to lead clients toward a deep relaxation in their body, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the body's healing state of rest & digest. Clients who have experienced Reiki treatments often report feeling a greater sense of calm, connection & clarity that follows them beyond their session and even into their sleep state that evening.

What is Intuitive Healing?

During periods of high vibration, such as while channeling Reiki, I am able to deeply attune to my client's needs and guide the session accordingly. I have a special ability of seeing very deeply into what may be blocking a client's current path which may be on the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual plane. Information most often appears visually as a picture, symbol or metaphor that may be shared with clients. Anything shared following these treatments is by request only and for the sole purpose of self-reflection and gaining insight into possible next steps, as determined by the clients themselves. I view all my clients as whole & complete in their essence and am honoured to walk alongside them as they discern the information and connect with what resonates.

What is HeartMath Healing?

Based on decades of heart-brain research, HeartMath interventions are techniques that allow clients to change their heart-rhythm patterns to effect change in how they feel and perform. While experiencing HeartMath interventions, you will be able to record your heart rhythm patterns into real-time coherence scores that can be used to build your heart coherence. Heart coherence refers to a state of harmony & balance in the heart, mind, and body, allowing one to experience a flow state of optimal efficiency and well-being. During sessions, clients find it helpful to receive visual feedback of how their body is responding to the interventions, leading to sheer delight when they witness optimal heart-rate variability, appearing as smooth, wave-like patterns on the screen.

What is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT Tapping)?

EFT Tapping  is a technique that involves connecting with a distressing thought, emotion or ailment while tapping on a particular sequence of meridian points. This technique allows the body to release stuck emotions and restore inner balance & flow. Prior to beginning the tapping sequence, clients will use a SUD (Subject of Disturbance) scale to assess the intensity of their emotion or physical sensation, which ranges between 0 (no distress) to 10 (maximum distress). The client then affirms the set-up statement and sets an intention to hold space for their full experience of that thought, emotion or ailment. Continuing to tap through the meridian sequence, clients release all stored thoughts & feelings through a venting of their frustration. After completion of the sequence, clients reassess their level of distress to see if there are any shifts in the previous reading prior to beginning the sequence, then repeat as necessary. Once the SUD score is 0, or as close to 0 as possible, clients repeat the process while connecting with updated thoughts, emotions, and/or physical sensations, true to that moment of clarity. Not only is this a wonderful tool for regulating the nervous system while processing painful emotions, it also builds the capacity to hold loving & compassionate space for full emotional processing, restoring self-trust & relationship repair with self.

What are Chakra Balancing Treatments?

Chakra systems are energy centers in the body that are described as "spinning wheels" through which prana (life force) flows. When the chakras are balanced and open, energy flows freely, providing a sense of inner connection and well-being in the mind, body & spirit. Humans have 7 main chakras, specifically located between the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each chakra is associated with certain body parts, contains a specific meaning, colour, element, sound, and attached emotion(s) depending on whether there is blockage or flow. When a particular chakra contains an imbalance, there are a number of ways this can show up in a person's life, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, socially or spiritually, affecting our ability to make aligned decisions, communicating needs, expressing boundaries, tapping into creative flow, and the list goes on. During sessions, we can restore flow in the chakras through Reiki treatments, yoga, sound healing, or meditation & visualization.

The main chakras are as follows:

Root Chakra ~ our foundation of stability & security

Sacral Chakra ~ our creativity, sensuality, & emotional expression

Solar Plexus Chakra ~ our sense of personal power & self-confidence

Heart Chakra ~ our sense of love, compassion & connection

Throat Chakra ~ our ability for communication & authentic self-expression

Third Eye Chakra ~ our capacity for intuition & insight

Crown Chakra ~ our connection to divine consciousness

What are the 7 Spiritual Laws of Yoga & Breathwork?

The 7 Spiritual Laws of Yoga, as outlined by Deepak Chopra, "connect us to the universe's natural flow and rhythm. In yogic tradition, this mirrors the idea of "santosha", or contentment. It is based on the notion that true success is an inner state of being present, that feels connected, balanced and easeful. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success invite us to trust, to let go, and to witness the synchronicity of the universe. Aligning with the laws, brings about a harmony that parallels the alignment of mind, body, and spirit in yoga, fostering a life of balance, purpose, and true success." Within each of the laws of yoga, exists a specific chakra (energy center), pranayama (breath) technique, a mudra (sacred hand gesture) and a mantra (a powerful phrase to honour the law). All of this assists us in deepening our connection & flow both internally within ourselves and externally within the world around us.

The 7 Spiritual Laws of Yoga are as follows:

  • The Law of Pure Potentiality ~ our essential nature is that of pure consciousness

  • The Law of Giving & Receiving ~ both giving & receiving are unique expressions of the same universal flow

  • The Law of Karma ~ every action generates a force of energy that returns in like kind

  • The Law of Least Effort ~ cultivating alignment & acceptance with the natural flow of the universe, allows for ease

  • The Law of Intention & Desire ~ intentions & desires are powerful energetic forces in the universe

  • The Law of Detachment ~ observing the world through non-attachment allows for greater clarity & freedom

  • The Law of Dharma ~ within each of us, lies a special purpose that when expressed, brings light to ourselves & the world

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a mind-based practice that trains our attention & awareness to flow in intentional ways. If the intention is to increase present-moment awareness, then a form of Mindfulness Meditation may be utilized. For more expansion & connection in the heart space, perhaps a Loving-Kindness Meditation would be preferred. Benefits of practicing meditation are too numerous to list but do include, quieting of the mind, lessening of reactivity and allowing for more expanded awareness. There are numerous studies that link meditation to a reduction in pain, a reduction in overall stress & anxiety, improved focus & attention, more restful sleep, a greater "window of tolerance" for life's upsets, improved cognitive function, a stronger immune system, and the list goes on.

Types of meditation that may be incorporated into your sessions include:

Mindfulness Meditation deepening present-moment awareness

Loving-Kindness Meditation ~ opening the heart space &cultivating inner compassion

Focused-Attention Meditation ~ using a mantra, meditation artifact or other personal item for grounding purposes

Body Scan Meditation ~ increasing inner-body attunement & reconnection

Movement Meditation ~ anchoring to the breath (inner self) during movement

Guided Meditation ~ inner-child healing, IFS-parts retrieval, past-life healing, ancestral healing, energetic cord cutting, healing karmic relationships & patterns, etc.

Healing Imagery Meditation ~ increasing our innate healing capacity while directing attention towards the healing process, whether through visualization or guided imagery

What is Integrative Somatic Therapy?

Integrative Somatic Therapy fosters healing from a whole-body lens, with the goal of re-establishing connection & flow to disruption & fragmentation within the mind, body, & spirit. Depending on client needs, various modalities are integrated into treatment planning in order to release stored emotions & trauma from the body, building resilience and fostering a stronger healing capacity.

What are Polyvagal techniques?

Polyvagal techniques reconnect clients with feelings of safety & relaxation while regulating the autonomic nervous system. These techniques address the ventral vagal branch of the nervous system which is responsible for social engagement & a sense of calmness, while fostering a natural healing state.

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

IFS is a modality of therapy that recognizes the mind as being comprised of several sub-personalities (parts), each with its own unique role & function. These parts, like family members, interact with each other and with the "Self" ~ the true Self at the core of a person's being that is compassionate, wise & calm. The goal of IFS is to help clients understand and integrate these parts, fostering inner harmony, deeper self-awareness & self-compassion.

What is Inner Child Healing?

Inner Child Healing allows you to explore early-childhood influences on mental, emotional, spiritual & social development, including attachment style, mindset, emotional maturity, sense of self, and so much more. During sessions, we explore current patterns, including distorted belief structures that perpetuate the continuation of these challenges in your life. With the vast majority of belief structures being formed in the first 5-7 years of life and deeply influenced by the environment & caregivers around us, you are able to cultivate more self-understanding & compassion for yourself & others. Inner Child Healing involves reconnecting with your younger, more vulnerable self while holding a safe, non-judgmental space for that version of you to process old emotional wounds. This develops newer, kinder and wiser eyes with which to see yourself and hold compassion for how you were shaped in your current lifetime.

What is Shadow Work?

Shadow Work involves exploring and integrating parts of ourself we have repressed or denied. These parts often show up as patterns of reflections in others who trigger in us, an intense emotional reaction and subsequent rejection of that part of their personality. Shadow work is a nice addition to IFS and Inner child Healing. Although painful at times, shadow work can be used in conjunction with mirror work as we begin to realize that at the deepest level, we are all one and everything we judge in another is also in ourselves to some degree. It's about acknowledging & understanding the aspects of our personality that we might not like or feel comfortable with, providing for greater clarity, self-acceptance, authenticity, and understanding within our relationship to self & to others.

What are oracle cards and how are they used in sessions?

The use of oracle cards in session is voluntary and allows for introspection & self-discovery. A reading offers you a unique way to explore your emotions, thoughts, and values. They can be used for interpretation, clarifying a life situation, and guiding next steps on your journey. You will always be held at the center of your experience, being reminded that oracle cards, along with any divination tool is just that, a tool to illuminate what your intuition is reflecting to you in any given moment.
